The GLGA Premiere of Standard #6

GLGA is pleased to announce the return of Daniel Dejan, North American ETC Print & Creative Manager for Sappi, who will present the newest volume of The Standard, the invaluable educational resource for graphic designers and printers. This special event will be held on June 3, 2015, at FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Hanover Park, IL.

Every choice made in the design and execution of a print project adds to the quality and style of the end result—this includes images, type, paper, layout, printing techniques and binding. Of all the overlooked design options, choice of binding technique ranks near the top. Binding choice need not be a result of how you design, but can be a design solution in itself. The Standard 6 dives deeply into binding—detailing the history, available materials, and types of binding to choose from. Printed on Sappi McCoy, The Standard 6 tells the story of binding across five chapters, each bound into the book using a different binding technique and featuring inspirational graphics, impressive printing, embossing and binding techniques as well as invaluable educational information about how to specify and plan binding for your print communications.

Don’t miss Daniel’s entertaining and informational presentation. The evening will be rounded out with demonstrations by FUJIFILM, networking and light refreshments. All participants will receive a copy of the new Standard 6 volume.

About the Presenter:

An award-winning graphic designer, art/creative director, production manager and print buyer, Daniel Dejan is widely respected in the print communications industry as a graphic arts educator, author and consultant. As North American ETC Print & Creative Manager for Sappi Fine Paper, Mr. Dejan provides value-added marketing, sales and technical consultation as well as in-house and end-user training and education for the print, paper and creative communities. He is member of Sappi’s ETC Group: Education, Consulting and Training.Over the past 30 years, Mr. Dejan has written for various graphic arts publications. He served as technical consultant and a contributing writer for “The Designer’s Guide to Print Production”. Mr. Dejan is Certified G7 Expert with a proficiency in Color and Color Management. He has shared his expertise, presenting keynote addresses, seminars and workshops for AIGA chapters, the Printing Industries of America, Canadian Printing Industries, IDEAlliance, the IPA, the Spectrum Conference (which he co-chaired in 2007), Print Production Clubs and Art Directors Club throughout the US and Canada, National and International print, design and marketing events, conferences and symposiums as well as in numerous presentations hosted by paper merchants, printers and corporations which keeps him on the road in excess of 200 days per year much to the chagrin of his family and pets.
