Position Summary:
The Landa Digital Press Operator role is responsible for the set up and operation of multicolor digital printing press in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a print shop and have offset or digital press experience or certification.
Starting Salary: $27.00 per hour, Weekly Pay, Paid Time Off, 401(k), and Benefits for Full Time permanent employees!
Schedule: 1st Shift 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, 2nd shift 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm and 3rd shift 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, Monday to Friday, Weekend work available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performing routine printing procedures according to specifications, most of which require specific skills and aptitudes.
• Reviews orders and verifies appropriate stocks and proofs/layouts are utilized as specified.
• Pulls specifications, verifies colors, ripped artwork, finishing proofs, stock, and special instructions.
• Sets up machine; set up color configuration (i.e. CMYK or CMYKOGB), choose correct stock, and print alignment.
• Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. Perform necessary press maintenance to monitor and manage color in accordance with GRACoL7 tolerances
• Completes all start-up checks and obtains start approval.
• Direct press helper with the specified type of paper, set up configuration and other tasks as required for efficient operation.
• Conduct & adheres to procedures performing quality inspections, visual discrimination, print quality analysis and informed judgment.
• Closes out job by verifying end to start approval and completing necessary documentation.
• Performs technical adjustments and maintenance of the Landa digital press as outlined and instructed by Landa Trainers.
• Adheres to procedures and operates machine to achieve throughput and waste goals.
• Recognizes when routine adjustments are necessary, catching errors at the earliest possible stage to minimize production reworks.
• Troubleshoots machine when it is not performing to standards.
• Follows guidelines assigned to work area and surrounding areas.
Qualifications:
• Follow all Safety policies and guidelines throughout plant.
• Background and experience in digital or offset press color printing. High level of mechanical aptitude required.
• Certification preferred or the ability to pass the manufacturers training requirements.
• Basic personal computer skills including email, word processing, Quantum systems.
• Basic math skills to perform accurate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Able to evaluate problems involving several process variables.
• Read and comprehend measurements on a ruler.
• Pass color vision and color hue tests.
• Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently.
• Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends when necessary.
• Must have reliable transportation to get to/from work. Reliability and dependability is very important.
• Must have a very good attitude and a willingness to be flexible and adaptable.
• Must be able to work cohesively with other team members.
Physical Requirements:
• Environment is a printing and manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, ink, cleaners, vapors, moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
• Requires frequent bending, standing, and walking throughout shift.
• Must be able to push, lift and pull up to 50 lbs. repetitively during shift. Work in an office environment about 10% of the time
• Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment about 90% of the time
• Requires use of pallet jacks and carts to move product during shift.
• Requires standing and walking 100% of shift on a concrete floor.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on seasonality.
