Leader Paper Products in Milwaukee, WI, is looking for Envelope Machine Adjusters to join our growing team on both first & second shift. WHAT DOES A MACHINE ADJUSTER DO?
Under minimal supervision, the Envelope Machine Adjuster sets up and adjusts envelope folding machines for safe and efficient operation in the production process. This includes the start-up, operation, adjustment to proper parameters involving close tolerances, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning of the equipment. May provide training and assistance to other Machine Adjusters and/or Operators.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Makes proper size changes and adjustments to all assigned machines in accordance with estimated change times; obtain approval from lead adjuster or supervisor on start-up of new orders.
- Continuously monitors all assigned machines and performance of Operators to ensure quality (folding, gumming, printing, count, packaging, etc.); and run speed standards are being met.
- Troubleshoots operating difficulties, analyzes machine operations, and makes necessary mechanical adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions.
- Provides training and assistance to coworkers, including other Adjusters.
- Ensures all change parts are cleaned and returned to assigned areas at completion of an order.
Performs minor machine maintenance and assists the maintenance team with major repairs and/or machine moves. - Relays any special instructions or important information regarding machine performance to supervisors and/or maintenance staff.
- Monitors machine shutdowns, where applicable, to ensure proper cleaning.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing setting required; paper and/or converting industry experience preferred.
- Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining envelope converting equipment (FL Smithe or W+D) preferred; printing experience highly preferred.
- Basic math skills, and the ability to accurately read a ruler.
- Excellent mechanical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
