HMR Designs is known for conceptual design, we specialize in all things visual for weddings, galas, private celebrations, corporate productions and mitzvahs nationwide. We are currently looking for a CNC Router and Cutter Operator responsible for operating and maintaining computer-controlled cutting machines to shape or cut materials like wood, plastic, metal, or composite materials according to precise specifications. Below is a general job description for this role:

Machine Operation:

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC routers, cutters, and other automated machinery to cut, carve, and shape materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings to determine machine setup and cutting parameters.
  • Ensure materials are properly secured and aligned on the machine bed.

Programming and Setup:

  • Input correct data into CNC machines, such as cutting paths, speeds, and material specifications.
  • Modify programs based on specific project needs and to resolve any issues that arise during production.
  • Ensure correct tooling and work-holding devices are used for different jobs.

Quality Control:

  • Monitor machine performance to ensure parts are cut to required dimensions and meet the specifications.
  • Inspect finished parts for defects or deviations from the design and make adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain high standards for precision and quality in every job.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including lubrication and cleaning.
  • Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Keep a record of maintenance activities and machine performance.

Safety and Cleanliness:

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, organized, and free from hazards.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while operating machinery.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other team members, engineers, and supervisors to optimize production schedules and workflows.
  • Communicate effectively about any production issues, machine maintenance, or material concerns.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including materials used, machine settings, and any adjustments made.
  • Assist in documenting operating procedures or any changes to machine settings.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in operating CNC routers, cutters, and other CNC machinery.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent focus on precision and the ability to detect flaws in materials or cuts.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Mathematical Ability: Comfort with measurements, calculations, and conversions, such as angles, diameters, and tolerances.
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols and equipment handling.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Relevant technical training or certification in CNC machinery operation preferred.
  • Previous experience as a CNC operator or cutter is highly desired.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may involve standing for long periods and operating machinery in a factory setting.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, and potential hazards, requiring the use of PPE.
  • This role typically involves a balance of technical skill, attention to detail, and a focus on safety and quality control.
