From Bill Gibson, GLGA Illinois Director:
Dedicating your career to helping others in our industry is exactly what Doug Wyman, Sales Directors, did AND continues to do as he talked about his journey (more than 60 years!) in selling, training and how to market PRINT at the annual Illinois GLGA Bowling/Bocce MIXer at Pinstripes in February.
His journey took attendees down memory lane as Doug moved from selling print to training members how to sell commodity to selling solutions in today’s market. Not only did Doug give us a look at how it was done but also that the basics in sales have NOT changed! He continued to emphasize relationships and face-to-face meetings that produce results for the client.
I was moved to invite Doug when we talked about how he seemed to have a “calling” in sales training, which was evident when I took one of his classes, on Lake Street at Printing Industries of Illinois/Indiana. He continues to be active in sales training and showed off his bowling skills after the presentation.
It was certainly an honor to have Derek Gordon of Graphco and Bob Dourlain of Graphic Innovators present Doug with a handmade type montage that was crafted by Jim Madden, retired president of Rider Dickerson and past PII chair.
Congratulations to Doug on your career in PRINT sales!
Many thanks to the sponsors who support and participate in this annual event.
