PEWAUKEE, WI — June 12, 2024 — The Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA) has revealed the second group of top winners of their 2024 Graphics Excellence Awards (GEAs). The announcement was made at their Wisconsin Awards Celebration held on June 12, 2024, at the Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee, WI.
Best of Show, the competition’s highest honor, was awarded to Fey Printing of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, for their entry in the Promotional Campaigns – Consumer category entitled Rivage Bal Harbour. One judge noted, “This collection of marketing materials enclosed in an elegant wrapper functions as a fantasy fulfilled.”
The Awards Celebrations are the culmination of the annual GEA competition, which recognizes companies throughout Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin for superb craftsmanship in the design, creation and production of outstanding printed projects they produce for their customers.
This year there were two award ceremonies on separate nights so that more members throughout GLGA’s three-state region could attend and celebrate another spectacular year of print. The first ceremony was held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Stonegate Conference Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
GLGA president Joe Lyman emceed the ceremony, which also included the presentation of more than 60 plaques to Wisconsin’s Best of Category and Best of Division honorees. The celebration also recognized this year’s Women in Print Excellence recipients and nominees.
The Fox Company, West Allis, Wisconsin, took Best of Wisconsin honors with their Paintings of Records SKW entry in the Art Books category. Color Ink of Sussex, Wisconsin, was awarded the Best of Packaging honors for their Puma: Forever. Hip Hop. Boombox Seeding Influencer Kit in the Specialty Printing – Other category.
People’s Choice honors were awarded in each location, with each winner selected by a vote of the attendees at their respective Celebrations. The Color Ink Puma Influencer Kit was a double winner, also winning the Milwaukee attendees’ vote for People’s Choice.
Previously announced at the June 6 Celebration were First Runner-Up to Platinum Converting, Bartlett, Illinois; Second Runner-Up to Priority Press, Indianapolis, Indiana; Best of Illinois to LCP, Waukegan, Illinois; Best of Indiana to Tactive, Indianapolis, Indiana; and Chicagoland People’s Choice to Case Paper Company of Chicago, Illinois, and JohnsByrne of Niles, Illinois.
The GEAs competition was judged over two days in March by a panel of outside graphics experts, who brought almost 100 years of collective print, finishing and converting experience to their evaluation of the contenders. There was a wide range of excellent entries including posters and calendars, books and catalogs, labels and tags, wide format, and packaging.
Joseph Lyman, president of GLGA, is extremely proud of the quality of work submitted in the 2024 GEA competition and the results it produced. “As one of the largest regional graphic competitions in North America, the GEAs are a showcase that demonstrates just how outstanding the quality of work produced in our region is,” Lyman said. “We are extremely proud to represent such outstanding print organizations.”
