GLGA’s Women in Print Networking Events are opportunities for women working in Print to come together, develop empowerment, and celebrate the achievements of women in the printing industry.

Join us on Thursday, April 28, for our inaugural Women in Print event in Illinois. Meet and network with other women in the Illinois printing industry, enjoy lunch, and hear an inspirational story from our special guest speaker, Mary Lawrence, the president of Richards Graphic Communications in Bellwood, IL. Mary will share her successful professional journey over her 30+ years in the printing industry, which has positioned her to become the first female chair of GLGA’s Board of Directors.

The program includes a deli buffet lunch.

Women at all stages of their careers and from all corners of the printing plant as well as women who work in roles that support the print industry are welcome! Bring plenty of business cards for networking.

About Our Speaker

Mary Lawrence joined Richards Graphic Communications in 1990. She received an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also attended Rochester Institute of Technology for technical and management print training. Mary gained experience working in many departments throughout the company including prepress, customer service, production and sales.

Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, she is the second woman in the family to run the business. Today, working alongside her brothers, daughter, nephews and sister-in-law, the 97 year-old company is an industry leader in offering web-to-print portals, digital printing, direct mail and logistics.

Her recent awards include the 2021 Women in Print – Illinois Leadership Award Winner; 2021 Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Nonprofit Board Leaders; and 2021 WE USA Magazine’s List of Top WBE CEOs.

Mary is Treasurer of the Great Lakes Graphic Association. She is also Board Chair (Ex Officio) of Magdalene House Chicago, a home and enterprise for women survivors of sex trafficking and addiction. She lives in Burr Ridge with her husband, Jim, and has two grown children.
