Perfect Binder Operator
We are a privately held bindery and finishing company, focused on team development, with a commitment to deliver great products and services. Our customers start the projects and we finish them! As we expand our facility, we are looking for skilled individuals who want to grow with us.
Position Summary:
The Perfect Binder Setup/Operator, under supervision of the operations manager, is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and repairing primarily the perfect binder but other machinery as needed in the Bindery Department. This role also involves assisting with training and guiding less-experienced team members, while ensuring that production standards and safety procedures are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, run, maintain, and repair Bindery Department machinery, primarily the Perfect Binder, pockets, block feeder and 3 Knife Trimmer.
- Review sales order specifications and production schedules to ensure correct setup of machinery.
Monitor production quality and make adjustments as necessary to meet standards. - Follow customer packaging and labeling requirements.
Maintain accurate records of job data, production quantities, and any issues encountered. - Assist with training and supporting finishing bindery team members.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Maintain repair and maintenance logs for equipment.
Approve and manage outside technician’s repair or upgrade work. - Support 5S Lean initiatives.
Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in the book printing industry is a bonus.
- Strong ability to follow directions and work unsupervised.
- Excellent attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and meet performance goals.
- Comfortable working in a team environment and following safety protocols.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling of equipment.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use measurement devices and record data accurately.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and hearing protection when necessary.
Work Environment:
Typically, loud due to machinery operation.
Work near moving equipment; adherence to safety guidelines and PPE use is required.
