The Illinois sales tax exemption for graphic arts producers and the Manufacturer’s Purchase Credit for graphic arts producers expired on August 30, 2014. Currently new equipment purchased by graphic arts producers is subject to Illinois sales tax, increasing the tax burden and cost of doing business in Illinois. ||Andrew Klemens is a partner with BKD, LLP. His experience also includes individual tax planning, employee benefits, multistate taxation and representation before various taxing authorities including the IRS, Illinois Department of Revenue and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.Andrew is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and volunteers to write CPA exam questions for AICPA. He also is a member of the Illinois CPA Society, where he chairs the partnership subcommittee for the Committee on the Taxation of Flow-through Entities.
||JoAnna Simek is a Senior Manager with BKD, LLP. She has almost 10 years of public accounting experience, including individual taxation, payroll taxes and providing tax preparation and consultation services for closely-held corporations, shareholders, partnerships and LLCs. She is a member of BKD National Manufacturing & Distribution Group.She focuses on state and local taxation, especially sales and use tax audits, refund recovery programs and representation before state tax authorities. JoAnna is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS), The Chicago Tax Club, Institute for Professionals in Taxation®, ICPAS State and Local Tax Committee and Young Professionals Group.
