Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician needed for a small, national, family-owned company who sells and services machinery to the printing industry. We will train, but must be a quick learner who has some hands on mechanical experience and some basic electrical knowledge. This person will be based in our Schaumburg, IL office, but will also be traveling to customer facilities in the Midwest and beyond to install and service our equipment. Once trained, 20 to 30 percent overnight travel is standard for this position. All travel expenses are paid for by the company.

Job Responsibilities include:

-Install and train new customers on our equipment at the customer’s facility.

-Diagnose problems and service our equipment at the customer’s plant.

-Communicate with customers over the phone and through email to diagnose issues.

-Take and fulfill machine parts orders.

-Crate and uncrate machinery.

-Load and unload trucks with a forklift.

-Do miscellaneous jobs around the office.

-Assist with trade show set-up and demonstrations

This candidate will eventually need to understand how to service our machinery, but also must be able to communicate with operators and managers during installations and service calls. As this person progresses, they will take on more responsibility and take over our larger machine responsibilities from the experienced service technicians who will be leaving the company in the next few years.

Requirements:

– Basic mechanical experience

– Basic electrical knowledge

– Some experience working with machinery or equipment (printing industry experience helpful but not required)

– High School or Trade School graduate

– Some college helpful but not required

– Good verbal and written communication skills

– Computer knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs
