Position Summary: The 1st Pressman is responsible for printing high-quality products using Komori offset printing equipment. Sets up for operates the press efficiently to meet or exceed customer requirements and quality standards. Directs and coordinates the activities of the press crew to ensure quality production in an accurate and efficient manner that supports operational excellence. Monitors the product for quality while minimizing waste and rework. Responsible for regular press maintenance. Troubleshoots and corrects problems in a timely manner. Accountable for performing job responsibilities safely.
Position Responsibilities:
Applies knowledge of printing on various substrates, including plastics, and coated /uncoated stocks
Uses job tickets to confirm the required materials and specifications for each job
Matches printing to approved impositions and die lines
Matches signed proof and color hold throughout press run
Pulls, inspects, and files on-the-run sample sheets
Meets or exceeds production objectives
Passes periodic inspections by VP of Operations on press maintenance, safety, and general area upkeep
Maintains MSDS documentation
Effectively communicates the status of jobs and machines at shift-change
Cross trains on all equipment in the department
Maintains and records daily clean up and housekeeping of equipment and general area
Completes and records preventive weekly/monthly maintenance
Pulls, cleans, and replaces (if needed) rollers to manufacturer’s specification
Proactively notifies managers of inventory and supplies
Troubleshoots and corrects mechanical and/or printing problems
Accurately records time and materials in the Company’s pressroom MIS
Attends and participates in on-the-job training and team meetings for process improvement
Observes established safe working and housekeeping procedures; promptly corrects hazardous situations
Follows all standard operating procedures, work instructions, and ISO requirements
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Position Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum 5 years offset printing experience
Demonstrated proficiency with 40” multi-color (4 to 8 units) offset press equipment; Komori preferred
Special Training: PDC-S Spectrometer, KMS
Fork lift experience preferred
